Bilikal Ranganatha betta.

We, The Kalols like travelling a lot. Recently, we happened to go to this place in the Rural district of Bengaluru, near Kanakapura (around 50kms from Bengaluru). This place we went is the Abode of Lord Sri Ranganatha Swamy and place itself is known as Bilikal Ranganatha betta. From Bengaluru this place is around 60kms. The pic on the top is the temple on the hill top.
The approach to this temple is not bad. Till the foot of the hill the road approach is pretty good and well constructed. From the foot of the hill to the top, the road is pretty bad. It is advised to either visit on a bike or a Jeep(the old one). For trekkers this could be a treat. Until we climbed the first 30% of the hill, the road was hidden below rocks :-) So, it called for a photo session. The road, rocks, etc., became the background and props for our photos :-)

Once we reached the top, we saw a big place behind the temple where we played cricket for sometime. we had a fruitful view of the surrounding in front of the temple. The scenic view was so beautiful that we could not take our eyes off! It was a pretty amazing sight. In front of the temple, well, we did our jumping stuff and it came out really well! :-) The time we went was a bit cloudy yet spectacular! Then, it was Kaloled! :-D with jumps one after another. After spending time on top of the hill, we descended to see a beautiful sunset. There is a chance of spending a night on top of the hill. Local villagers say that there are mostly Elephants in that are and hence need to be careful!

Following are a couple of photos indicating the settings of Macro in D60. Even though the lens being used here is not a Macro Lens, the photos are pretty good..

I was testing the way D60 handles Macro and here is the result. On the right is the picture of a Porcelain tortoise. The Tortoise is about 10cms in length and the small one above it is about 3-4cms. This was shot under an Incadescent light. Had to get the right setting while shooting with Manual (M) setting in the camera.

When I actually saw this in the camera preview, it didn't seem to look that good, until I saw it in my . I was actually able to see the dust settled on it. This was a pretty good shot, atleast for me!

This is called Light Painting. Basically, it is the amount of time the Shutter is open during which it captures all the light activity. In order to take this picture, you need to be in a dark place, set your camera to a shutter speed between 1 - 30 seconds. Once you press the Shutter Release button, you just need to start writing in mid-air with a source of light (preferably a torch) and you will get your desired painting! :-)

Nikon D60

2 weeks back I bought a Nikon D60 SLR camera. The smallest and compact camera that Nikon has ever released. Even though this is small, you are able to take some breath taking photos..
My expression for them was WOW!!!!
